Roulette Games
Many people are unaware that there are three different types of roulette games. The rules are exactly the same for all three, the only real difference is the wheel and the board. The three games are American Roulette, European Roulette, and French Roulette.
Differences Between French, European, and American Roulette Games
In all three games you can make almost exactly the same bets as the others. The one exception to that rule is that you cannot make the 5 number bet on a European or French roulette table. The reason for this is that neither of those tables has a double zero on the wheel or on the board.
That is the only real difference between the games. The American roulette wheel has an extra number, known as the double zero, ( 00 ). This extra numbered space give the house a small extended advantage over the players because it adds one more number to the wheel in which the ball may land. Therefore, the players odds of hitting are decreased.
For this reason many players prefer to play on European or French roulette tables if they have the option. If you are playing roulette online, you will most likely have the option to play either an American roulette wheel, or the European roulette wheel. We recommend you only play on a European roulette wheel as it will increase your odds of actually winning with every spin.
There is on additional difference on the French roulette table worth mentioning. If the winning number on the French roulette table is 0, then all players who have placed bets on the outside bets only lose half of their bet. This rule in French roulette is known as “la partage.”
That’s all there is to it. All three games allow the same types of bets, place bets, street bets, 3 and 4 numbered bets, (the 5 number bet is only available on the American roulette table because of the double zero) as well as all of the available outside bets. The outside bets are more likely to win on any variant of roulette you play, but they also pay out less money per win.
